There’s still about nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter, and considering everything that’s happened so far I wouldn’t dare to say the game is over. But regardless of what happens from now until a certain lady starts singing, there’s one thing I just can’t understand: how is it possible for a team with such an awful quarterback to be in the Super Bowl?
what the heck?

More importantly: did the Colts just win the whole damn thing with their defense? A key interception in the fourth. Geez.

Not really, that wasn’t so much good defense, as it was the work of an overeager and not that gifted quarterback.
In fact, a friend of mine said it reminded him of the Baltimore Ravens that won Super Bowl XXXV with Trent Dilfer, an even worse quarterback than Grossman. The two key differences, though, are that the Ravens had the best defense on the league (perhaps of its history), and that Dilfer knew how limited he was and played accordingly. Grossman, on the other hand, spent the entire game trying to run stupid plays, and could have been intercepted at least two other times.
In the end, the Colts won the Super Bowl with their no-huddle offense, which again just tired the hell out of the opposing team’s defense. It’s amazing how, after all this time, no one seems to have a real answer to Manning’s game.

That’s all bs. If Chicago had won they would have said that Grossman was just fine.
Indianapolis won because they controlled the ball for a huge amount of time and got the Bear’s deffense tired. And Manning was patient. That’s it.

PAULO: if Chicago had won with a stellar performance by Grossman, that’s what people would’ve said. but even then, they’d talk about his inconsistency throughout the year.
as for Indy controlling the ball and tiring the Bears’ defense, well, that’s pretty much what I said in the previous comment.
so far, the only proven way of getting Manning out of his game is to run blitzes and put pressure on him, which is kinda hard when you don’t have time to change the lineup and coordinate the defense. even New England had a hard time throwing blitzes at the Colts.
and I also have to agree with Robert Weintraub that Manning’s play wasn’t spectacular, and that Jeff Saturday’s role in opening spaces for the running backs was also key to Indy’s victory.
